An Always Pleasing Asian Treat, Mongolian Barbecue is an Excellent Dish
Mongolian barbeque, which is a favorite among people all
over Europe and North America, represents itself as an exotic meal which has
been passed down through Mongolian history and is served today at
restaurants across the world. The fact is that Mongolian barbeque is nothing
more than a made up cuisine popularized by different chefs in westernized
countries. The marketing ploy is to entice customers that what they are
getting is an exotic meal from a far off and what is regarded as a wild
country.
That’s not to take anything away from what we call Mongolian barbeque
because it is indeed very tasty and it is fun to watch the chefs prepare the
meal right in front of your eyes. But it is interesting to note that this
style of food preparation and the ingredients used cannot be traced back to
any period of history in Mongolia. Recent culinary studies indicate that the
Mongolian barbeque can be tied to various Japanese food preparation
techniques.
In the end it probably doesn’t really matter where Mongolian barbeque came
from, all most of us know is that it’s really good to eat. There are many
resources on the internet to get your own recipes and create your own
Mongolian dishes, but if you want to experience a true “Mongolian” dining
experience then make sure you visit a BD’s Barbeque restaurant at least one
time in your life.
With branches all over the world (including Mongolia), BD’s is one of the
best Mongolian restaurants in the business and specializes in cooking a huge
variety of different dishes in the “Mongolian” style. While they are
definitely the largest of the companies that claim that all of their recipes
come from traditional Mongolian cuisine, their great food and excellent
service certainly outweigh any problems they may have with the truthfulness
of their marketing campaign. If you are a true fan of this type of barbecue,
you can even purchase your own BD’s franchise location anywhere in America.
